IfAÖ at first world congress on wind energy and wildlife impacts
Energy production from renewable sources is of growing importance in view of global climate change. However, in assessing the environmental consequences of new forms of use, a significant knowledge gap exists with resulting uncertainty in planning. With a meeting held May 2-5 2011 in Trondheim, Norway, the first international forum was provided to shed light on the current knowledge of the effects of wind energy on wildlife. The departments of benthic organisms, ichthyology and ornithology at IfAÖ were represented with 5 contributions.
