Benthos specimen collection of the IfAÖ
At the Neu Broderstorf office location, IfAÖ maintains the most extensive benthic evidence collection for a private institute. The profound knowledge of species and the comparison possibilities with more than 12,000 archived individuals as well as the time series data of the institute's own benthos database (> 7,700 stations with > 33,000 hauls from the North Sea and Baltic Sea) allow the precise determination as well as the description of bottom-dwelling animal and plant communities.
Advantages:
- comprehensive identification of bottom-dwelling animal and plant communities
- description of species diversity and distribution
- evaluation of environmental influences
- description of anthropogenic influences on the benthos
- description of seasonal and interannual variability
- preparation of technical papers and expert reports
